How in the name of all that is golden is it July already?! Seriously, wasn’t it just 2015 like yesterday? Well, since the year is half over it only seems fitting that I do a little mid-year review to check on my progress on the goals I laid out in my start-of-the-year post.
WRITING + PUBLISHING
Uh-oh. I am a bit behind schedule here. Of the six novellas and three books I want to write this year, I’ve only gotten through two novellas and the draft of one book. But I did publish both novellas and finish up Relentless and launch Relentless, so I haven’t just been sitting around binge-watching Ink Master….
Here’s the current state-of-the-projects:
☑ When Magic Falls — DONE!
☑ When Magic Wakes — DONE!
☑ Relentless — DONE!
☐ Untitled Forgive My Fins novella — Working on this one right now. And it is no longer untitled, but the title remains a tightly guarded secret.
☐ Untitled Oh. My. Gods. novella — On the schedule.
☐ Two more Oh. My. Gods. novellas — On the schedule.
☐ Untitled Oh. My. Gods. book — On the schedule.
☒ How to Lose Tru in Ten Days + Sloane and Tru’s Excellent Adventure — the Creative HeArts books are on hold for a moment, stay tuned for news.
READING
While I have definitely been reading a lot more than last year (thanks to my recent rediscovery of the library and my subscription to Audible), it has mostly been non-fiction, for both self-improvement and book-related research. Sadly, most of my narrative entertainment comes in the form of TV and movies….
TRAVEL
Other than mistakenly marking my first trip of the year as Reno instead of Fresno, my travel is going according to plan. In fact, I added two trips! First was a writing retreat in the Rockies (*swoon*) and then a quick trip to Austin for the official launch signing for Relentless.
☑ Fresno, CA — wedding
☑ Steamboat Springs, CO — writing retreat
☑ Austin, TX — Relentlesss launch
☐ San Diego, CA — Romance Writers of America
☐ New York, NY — Privacy, Troilus and Cressida, and Paramour
☐ Houston, TX — personal
☐ London, UK — harry potter and the cursed child
The RWA conference in San Diego is happening next week, and I can’t wait for some sand, sun, and really great workshops.
New York is definitely happening. Hamilton is kind of ridiculously out of budget now (thanks a lot, Tony awards!) but still planning to see some other great shows.
And then… LONDON! I am so excited to be going back to Londinium to see the Harry Potter play and do a ton of research on at least two different secret projects.
So that’s pretty much the state of my world at the moment.
How’s your 2016 going so far?
Congratulations on all of your accomplishments, publications, travels, works-in-progress, and awesome things yet to come!
