Hey there, 2016! How ya doing?! Since I did an end-of-the-year wrap-up, it’s only fitting that I do a start-of-the-year projection.
Writing + Publishing
2016 will be henceforth known as the year of the novella. You can see from the list below that I have plans to write and publish several of them. I really enjoy writing the shorter form stories and it’s a way for me to delve into side characters and secondary plots. I hope you’ll love reading them just as much.
- When Magic Falls — The fourth Darkly Fae novella.
- When Magic Wakes — The fifth Darkly Fae novella.
- Relentless — Tracy and I are just finishing up the final polish on the sequel to Powerless, coming in June.
- Untitled Oh. My. Gods. novella — This will be a companion novella to Goddess In Time, starring…nope, not giving that away yet, but suffice it to say you’ll be very excited.
- Untitled Forgive My Fins novella — This will be a companion novella to Pretty In Pearls, starring Coral (Riatus’s sister).
- How to Lose Tru in Ten Days — My second book in the Creative HeArts series is slated for September.
- Two more Oh. My. Gods. novellas — These two ideas have been percolating in my brain since the very beginning. They star Cesca and Nola, Phoebe’s best friends from back home, getting mixed up in the world of the Greek gods.
- Untitled Oh. My. Gods. book — Yes, really! I have been thinking about this story since I finished Goddess Boot Camp. Specifics are still sketchy, but it’s on my list.
- Sloane and Tru’s Excellent Adventure — My third book in the Creative HeArts series won’t be coming out this year, but the first draft is due in November.
I am also planning on releasing print editions of all the novellas, so stay tuned for dates and details about those.
Disclaimer: The above constitutes my current plan, but plans change and things come up. Nothing is set in stone until it is.
Reading
One of my biggest goals for 2016 is to read more. Every year, I enter the GoodReads challenge…and fail miserably. But not this year. I’ve broken down the challenge into smaller monthly goals.
Each month I will read:
- 1 book from a debut author
- 1 book from my TBR pile
- 1 non-fiction book
- 1 wild card book
So far this year, I’ve read:
- Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (TBR pile)
- The Miracle Morning (non-fiction)
- The Shangri-La Diet (wild card)
And I just got my pre-order of my January debut book, The Love that Split the World by Emily Henry.
Travel
Last year was insane on the travel front, and I’m hoping that 2016 will be a lot less hectic. Mostly because I have a lot of writing to get done and travel wipes out a lot of time. I only have a very few trips planned and only one of which is book-related. Right now my schedule looks like this:
- Reno, NV — wedding
- San Diego, CA — Romance Writers of America
- Houston, TX — personal
- London, UK — Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
I’m hoping to add a trip to NYC (to see Hamilton again!) as well as one to California. I don’t know yet about Relentless tour plans, but I will definitely keep you posted.
Whew! Where last year was full of travel, this year will be full of writing. Which is good for you, right? I also have a few other secret project in the works (don’t I always?) and you’ll hear about those as they develop. Stay tuned. I can’t wait to see what 2016 is going to bring.
