Usually, by the time the halfway mark of the year approaches, I’m left wondering where the heck all the time went? Not this year. This year I know exactly where it went, and in this mid-year check-in, I’m about to tell you.
My Year (So Far) in Numbers
First, some numbers. Since the first of the year…
- I have published 26(!!!) blog posts, including this one.
- I’ve sent out 6 newsletters (subscribe, if you haven’t already).
- There are 3 new videos on my YouTube channel, with another one coming soon.
- I created and shared 1 very cool (if I do say so myself) Instagram Stories story (check it out if you don’t know what I’m talking about).
I’ve also given away 96 books. 96!!! (Most of these were author copies that were gathering dust in my garage, but still!!!)
What’s Up, Writing?
In writing news, I’ve finished the first draft of Coral’s story. It’s about 24,000 words so far and I’m still in the process of revising it. It’s going to release in August (soon!!!) and I can’t wait for you to read about this quirky girl and her long-time crush.
It still doesn’t have a final title.
Stay tuned next month for more information about Coral, Zak, and their story. There is going to be a pre-order campaign with a bunch of free goodies. As soon as that’s all set up I will share the details.
In the meantime, if you want to meet Coral and Zak, read When Coral Dreams right now, for free. And get even more of Coral in Pretty in Pearls.
Hello, Video!
As I mentioned above, I’ve posted 3 new videos on my YouTube channel this year. Just in the last couple of months, actually. In case you missed them:
I’m planning to do a lot more video content this year, including regular check-ins (like this, but in video form), answers to your questions, and behind-the-book looks into my story worlds.
If you have any writing- or book- or life-related questions you want me to answer, you can submit them at teralynnchilds.com/ask.
Also, if you have ideas for other videos you’d like to see, let me know in the comments below.
That Puppy Thang
In case you missed his handsome face on Instagram or in my newsletter, let me introduce you to the newest member of the family, Jasper.
This rescue pup is half Black Lab and half English Shepherd. The big dogs seem to like him. Okay, Daisy doesn’t like him, but she doesn’t like anybody. We have that in common. 😉
Still, he fits right in. He is completely fearless, whether that means taking on Titus or jumping from the couch to the coffee table. And he gets hiccups all the time. Adorable!
It’s amazing how some little stranger can come into your life and instantly feel like he’s always been there.
Now, if only he would stop chewing on every single thing…
So, Side Hustle
When I’m not recording videos, creating mermaids stories, or snuggling puppies, I’ve been hard at work on a secret side project. I wish I could tell you more, but at this point, it’s still a few weeks from being ready for public eyes.
I can tell you this: if you’re a writer (or if you’ve always wanted to be a writer) then I think you’re going to LOVE what I’m working on.
Coming Soon(?)
That’s my year in review. What about my year ahead?
Besides publishing Coral’s novella in August and launching my side hustle soonish, I have a ton of other things planned for the rest of 2019.
- Keep blogging and emailing and videoing (2nd verse, same as the 1st)
- Special July sale event (details coming next week)
- A short story collection ( some old stories, revised and expanded, along with some new ones)
- Write Griffin’s story (if you read Goddess in Time, you know he has some unfinished business…)
- A VERY exciting trip with Sophie Jordan
If things fall into place, there are some other projects that I hope I’ll get to before the year is over.
- Write the first book in a new mermaid series
- Launch the TLC online shop (a big project that will take a lot of time, but it’ll be worth it!)
- Record and release audiobook versions of some of my short stories and/or novellas
So, yeah. That’s… a LOT. But 2019 is off to a great start and I’ve got momentum on my side. And I’ve got YOU, my magical Mythfits!
You make it worth all the work!
