As I’m starting to work on Secret Project RH this morning, I’m debating whether or not to start with a prologue. And, if I use a prologue, whether it should be a snippet that happened before the story began (i.e. a taste of backstory that sets up the book) or something that happens later in the story (i.e. a teaser of exciting action to come).
Personally, as a reader, I love prologues. But the internet would lead me to believe that I’m in the minority. So my poll has two questions.
- Prologue, yay or nay?
- If yay, then would you rather read a prologue about something that has already happened or something that will happen?
Thanks for the feedback!
Yes, yous should do a prologue before the story.
