This is the first article in a series about the twelve* dynamotheos powers. This series is designed to help new and inexperienced hematheoi gain a deeper understanding of their powers and, hopefully, make those powers easier to control and master.
The first power is that of aerokinesis (αερόκνηεσης).
According to the informational worksheet written by Academy student Stella Petrolas, aerokinesis is defined as follows:
The ability to control and move air and wind. This can also result in the moving and/or levitating of objects, self, or others. Useful during summer months to reduce air conditioning costs. Only very powerful hematheos can use this power to affect noticeable changes in weather.
The Olympic source of aerokinesis is the esteemed goddess Artemis. As the goddess of the hunt who frequently uses a bow and arrow, she well knows that the ability to adjust the wind at her whim is a very useful power.
Some helpful tips when attempting to use or refine your aerokinesis:
- Visualize objects which are or can be lighter than air (feathers, birds, bubbles, dandelion seeds, balloons).
- Practice in a location where the air is very still, so that the slightest manifestation of aerokinesis can be easily observed.
- Employ props that can mimic aerokinesis (hand fans, palm fronds, brooms, flags) to jumpstart your use of the power.
If these tips don’t provide adequate assistance, you might consider requesting the help of Artemis herself. You may, however, be better advised to seek out one of her descendants.
If you have successfully passed your aerokinesis powers test, congratulations! You may claim this digital badge as proof of your proficiency. Students currently enrolled at the Academy may request a physical badge be mailed to them through the Dynamotheos Learning Portal.
* Rumors of a lost 13th power are officially unsubstantiated.
